Types of Questions

There are 6 different types of questions that you'll be able to use to when creating an Application Question, Job Vacancy Custom Field or Job Offer Custom Field.

This guide will provide useful information about each question type (as well as subtypes where applicable). It will also include screenshots that demonstrate how the question will appear for your applicants. 

Don't worry, if you're editing a question and want some quick help related to the question type, you can always hover of the tooltip icon to for contextual information.

The Question Type and Subtypes are:

Free Text

Free Text questions allow your applicants to submit short or long form responses.  Free text questions can be configured to based on the Job Segment or the response to a Parent Question.  It is also possible to limit the number of characters or tag responses when configuring the question.

Free text questions have 3 sub-types:

1. Short Answer - Short Answer questions appear as a single row and have a default character limit of 100.
   
   
   
   
2. Long Answer - Long Answer questions appear as multiple rows and have a default character limit of 4000.
   
   
   
   
3. Tags - Tags appear in a single row but allow users to press enter to save a tag as they type.
   
   

Multiple Choice

Multiple Choice questions allow applicants to select from a small group of predefined answers (Answer Sets). When editing or creating a Multiple Choice question, you're able to create a new Answer Set or choose an Answer Set that has already been configured.  

Multiple Choice questions have 4 sub-types:

1. Radio Button - Radio Button questions limit applicants to a single selection and appear as clickable buttons when applying.  This type of question supports applying answer scoring and/or answer badges.
   
   The Radio Button option is best suited to questions with a small list of available answers.  If the Answer Set associated with a Radio Button question has more than four values, it will display as a dropdown menu without a search filter.  
   
   
   
   
2. Searchable Dropdown - Searchable Dropdown questions allow applicants to make a single selection from a large group of predefined answers (Answer Sets). Searchable Dropdown questions also support applying answer scoring and/or answer badges.
   
   This question type displays as a dropdown menu with a search filter and is best suited to questions that have a large number of available answers.
   
   
   
   
3. Multiselect Checkbox - Multiselect Checkbox questions allow users to select multiple options from a group of predefined answers (Answer Sets).  This question type displays as a dropdown menu with checkboxes that the applicant is able to ticket when answering.
   
   
   
   
4. Multiselect Searchable Dropdown - This question type allows candidates to make multiple selections. Each selection they make creates a "tag" in the answer area.  
   
   
   
   

Date

Date questions allow for applicants to select a single date. It does not support selecting multiple dates or a date range. 

Number

Number questions allow for numeric input only. When creating this type of question, you're able to configure the maximum accepted value as well as the maximum number of decimal places.  You're also able to apply badges and/or scores based on the applicant's response. 

Currency

Currency questions work exactly like Number questions but the applicant will see a currency symbol that matches the default currency set on the Position Details.  This question type also supports answer scoring and answer badges.

File Attachment

File Attachment questions allow applicants to upload files.  Users are able to configured the maximum number of file attachments on each question.
